Usage of Linguistic Corpora in Language Teaching and Language Research

The goal of the program "Usage of Linguistic Corpora in Language Teaching and Language Research" is to study the corpus as the primary modern tool for representing and systematizing linguistic material.

The content of the program includes the examination of corpus resources available for various languages, including Ukrainian, issues of corpus structure and annotation, and tools for working with corpus data. The program emphasizes the potential uses of corpora in contemporary lexicography, linguistic research, and improvement of the teaching of linguistics disciplines. It will also explore the possibilities of visualizing corpus data and the fundamental principles of their interpretation.

Upon successful completion of tasks and the successful defense of the project, participants in the program will receive a certificate that complies with the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The training in the program is free of charge.

General:

  • Skills in using modern information technologies in linguistic research and teaching. 
  • Ability to identify, pose, and solve technical tasks at the user level.

Professional:

  • Ability to navigate freely in different types of linguistic corpora.
  • Ability to choose the right type of corpus according to a specific task.
  • Skills in using modern programs for corpus search and processing of obtained corpus data. 
  • Understanding the principles of the operation of such programs.

    Information Successfully completed the Program training and obtained certificates from Friedrich Schiller University Jena: 12 PhD holders, 42 science candidates, and 5 individuals without academic degrees (including lecturers, senior lecturers, and graduate students). This achievement was accomplished in collaboration with 11 cities and 21 universities.
